Dialog Strategis Israel – Amerika Incar Habisi Negara-negara Arab

Posted by Gema Dakwah on 04:19 // 0 comments

(qm)

Rafid Ahmed, Si Pembohong yang Menyebabkan Irak Diserbu Amerika Serikat

Rabu, 16 Februari 2011, 11:35 WIB

Rafid Ahmed Truk pengangkut senjata biologis Irak, yang ternyata bohong.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA–Serbuan Amerika Serikat ke Irak terbukti tanpa alasan yang kuat. Seorang pembelot asal Irak mengaku kalau dirinya memberikan informasi palsu pada Gedung Putih terkait senjata pemusnah massal agar AS menyerang Irak.

“Mungkin tindakan saya benar. Atau mungkin salah. Tapi AS memberi saya kesempatan untuk menjatuhkan Saddam.

American Israel Public Affairs Committee From Wikipedia the…

American Israel Public Affairs Committee

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC, pronounced /ˈeɪpæk/ AY-pak) is a lobbying group that advocates pro-Israel policies to the Congress and Executive Branch of the United States. The current President of the AIPAC is Lee Rosenberg from Chicago, Illinois.[1] As an independent, not-for-profit entity, AIPAC is funded entirely through contributions from its American members.

Describing itself as “America’s Pro-Israel Lobby,”[2] AIPAC is a mass-membership, American organization whose members include Democrats, Republicans, and independents. The New York Times calls it “the most important organization affecting America’s relationship with Israel.”[3] It has been described as one of the most powerful lobbying groups in Washington, DC. Its critics have stated it acts as an agent of the Israeli government with a “stranglehold” on the United States Congress,[4] while many of these critics are themselves accused of, if not classic anti-Semitism, then acting in the interest of anti-Semites and holding an anti-Israel bias.[5]

In 2005, a Pentagon analyst pled guilty to charges of passing US government secrets to two AIPAC staffers in what is known as the AIPAC espionage scandal. Both staffers were later fired by AIPAC.[6] In 2009 all charges against the former AIPAC employees were dropped.[7]

In 1984 the FBI investigated after Israeli Minister of Economics Dan Halpern passed “confidential” US government documents to AIPAC outlining commercial trade information on major US industries lobbying against the US-Israel Free Trade Area.[8] No charges were ever filed.[9]

[edit] History

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee was incorporated[10] on January 2, 1963 by Isaiah L. “Si” Kenen. Kenen originally ran the American Zionist Committee for Public Affairs as a lobbying division of the American Zionist Council. US Department of Justice files reveal that the Kennedy administration ordered the American Zionist Council to register as an agent of the Israeli government under the Foreign Agents Registration Act on November 21, 1962; these files were declassified in 2008.[11] By forming a new corporation just six weeks after the FARA order, Kenen hoped to avoid registering as a foreign agent. Kenen applied for federal tax exemption as a “charitable, religious and educational” nonprofit in 1967. Kenen stated that AIPAC’s exemption should be backdated to 1954, the date he formed the unincorporated American Zionist Council for Public Affairs. The IRS granted AIPAC’s tax exemption in 1968.[12]

Michael Oren writes in his book, Power, Faith, and Fantasy: America in the Middle East 1776 to the Present, “Though founded in 1953, AIPAC had only now in the mid-70s, achieved the financial and political clout necessary to sway congressional opinion. Confronted with opposition from both houses of Congress, Ford rescinded his “reassessment”.”[13] George Lenczowski notes a similar, mid-1970s, timeframe for the rise of AIPAC power. “It [the Carter Presidency] also coincides with the militant emergence of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) as a major force in shaping American policy toward the Middle East.”[14] He further notes that this period also coincides with a major shift in Israeli government policies related to the election of Menachem Begin in Israel.

A US Senate Foreign Relations Committee investigation[15] revealed that AIPAC Founder Isaiah L. Kenen continued to receive funding from the Israeli government for lobbying and public relations into the early 1960s.[citation needed]

AIPAC’s web site states that it “has grown into a 100,000-member national grass-roots movement.”[16]
[edit] Aims and activities

AIPAC’s stated purpose is to lobby the Congress of the United States on issues and legislation related to Israel. AIPAC regularly meets with members of Congress and holds events where it can share its views. AIPAC is not a political action committee, and does not directly donate to campaign contributions. Nevertheless, according to The Washington Post, “money is an important part of the equation.” The Washington Post states that AIPAC’s “web site, which details how members of Congress voted on AIPAC’s key issues, and the AIPAC Insider, a glossy periodical that handicaps close political races, are scrutinized by thousands of potential donors. Pro-Israel interests have contributed $56.8 million in individual, group, and soft money donations to federal candidates and party committees since 1990, according to the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics. Between the 2000 and the 2004 elections, the 50 members of AIPAC’s board donated an average of $72,000 each to campaigns and political action committees.”[17]

AIPAC’s aims include pressuring the Palestinian Authority to adhere to its commitments to fight terrorism and incitement against the state of Israel with the eventual goal of creating two states one Jewish, one Arab, in the territorial holdings of Israel. They also wish to strengthen bilateral relations through shared intelligence and foreign military and economic aid to Israel, condemn the actions of the Iranian government in pursuing nuclear status and questioning the Holocaust, and levy financial restrictions in order to hinder Iran’s nuclear development. Also important to the group is to support the U.S. congress and executive administration in rejecting the UN backed United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict’s paper, commonly referred to as the “Goldstone Report.”

AIPAC never supported or lobbied for the war in Iraq.[18] According to a columnist in the Washington Post, “Once it was clear that the Bush administration was determined to go to war [in Iraq], AIPAC cheered from the sidelines”.[17] Some observers suggested the official silence owed to concerns that linking Israel to the war “could alienate friendly Arab states by suggesting that the war is driven by Israel’s interests.”[19]

AIPAC’s official position on Iran is to encourage a strong diplomatic and economic response coordinated among the United States government, its European allies, Russia, and China.[17] AIPAC has demanded “crippling” sanctions against Iran.[20]

In line with this approach, AIPAC has lobbied to levy economic embargoes and increase sanctions against Iran.[21] But according to the Jewish News Weekly, in 2006 AIPAC “successfully pressed for the removal of a provision in an Iraq war funding bill that would have required the president to get congressional approval for war against Iran” because it would have “restrain[ed] Bush” in confronting Iran.[18]

AIPAC also provides political leadership training to undergraduate student groups in an effort to build a stronger pro-Israel movement among students on and off campuses nationwide.

In March 2009, AIPAC executive director Howard Kohr appeared before the House Committee on Appropriations’ Foreign Operations subcommittee to testify about the importance of US aid to Israel. Kohr stated that “American assistance to Israel serves vital U.S. national security interests and advances critical U.S. foreign policy goals” and requested that Israel receive $2.775 billion in military aid in fiscal year 2010, as called for in the 2007 Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Israel that allocates $30 billion in aid for the Jewish state over 10 years. Kohr stated that the military hardware Israel must purchase to face the increased threat of terrorism and Islamist radicalism is increasingly expensive due to the recent spike in petroleum prices which have enabled countries such as Iran to augment their military budgets. However, he added that Israel will also increase its defense spending as part of this effort.[22]

AIPAC supports U.S. involvement in the peace process. It supports continued U.S. support of “negotiations with an acceptance of Israel’s need for secure, recognized and defensible borders, with the understanding that Israel must determine its own security requirements.” It also supports U.S. support for Palestinian moderates, adding that such support “is more likely to lead to breakthroughs in Israeli-Palestinian negotiations because Israel will be more willing to take risks for peace when its security requirements are being addressed and when the United States is backing its efforts.[23]

[edit] AIPAC’s views of its strengths and achievements

AIPAC claims[citation needed] its strengths lie in its national membership base and great research capacity to understand both Israel’s interest and the interests of other countries affecting the U.S.-Israel relationship around the world. Some of AIPAC’s recent achievements can be found on their web site.[21]
[edit] Successes

AIPAC advises members of Congress about the issues that face today’s Middle East, including the dangers of extremism and terrorism. It was an early supporter of the Counter-Terrorism Act of 1995, which resulted in increased FBI resources being committed to fight terrorism, as well as expanded federal jurisdiction in prosecuting criminal activities related to terrorism.

AIPAC has also supported the funding of a number of Israeli military projects that have resulted in new additions to the arsenal of the United States Armed Forces.[citation needed] Israel’s Arrow anti-missile system is now the most advanced working anti-ballistic missile system in the world.[citation needed] It is being mass produced at a Boeing plant in Huntsville, Alabama for use by both the United States and Israel. Additionally, the U.S. military has purchased Israeli-made tank armor, unmanned aerial vehicles, and other technologies for use in its operations.

AIPAC lobbies for financial aid from the United States to Israel, helping to procure up to three billion in aid yearly making Israel “the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. foreign assistance since World War II.”[24] Additionally, the result of AIPAC’s efforts include numerous exceptional provisions that are not available to other American allies. According to the Congressional Research Service (CRS), these include providing aid “as all grant cash transfers, not designated for particular projects, and…transferred as a lump sum in the first month of the fiscal year, instead of in periodic increments. Israel is allowed to spend about one quarter of the military aid for the procurement in Israel of defense articles and services, including research and development, rather than in the United States.”[25]

The Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, which is highly critical of American support for Israel, has estimated total aid since 1949 at approximately $108 billion.[26]

The New York Times described AIPAC on July 6, 1987 as “a major force in shaping United States policy in the Middle East.”[27] In 1997, Fortune magazine named AIPAC the second-most powerful influence group in Washington, D.C.[28]
[edit] Controversies

Former Senator William Fulbright, in the 1970s, and former senior CIA official Victor Marchetti, in the 1980s, contended that AIPAC should have registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).[29] FARA requires those who receive funds or act on behalf of a foreign government to register as a foreign agent. However, AIPAC states that the organization is a registered American lobbying group, funded by private donations, and maintains it receives “no financial assistance” from Israel or any other foreign group.[30]

In 2006, Representative Betty McCollum (DFL) of Minnesota demanded an apology from AIPAC, claiming an AIPAC representative had described her vote against the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act of 2006 as “support for terrorists.” McCollum stated that AIPAC representatives would not be allowed in her office until she received a written apology for the comment.[31] AIPAC disputed McCollum’s claim, and McCollum has since declared the incident over.[32]
[edit] Steiner resignation

In 1992, AIPAC president David Steiner was forced to resign after he was recorded boasting about his political influence in obtaining aid for Israel. Steiner also claimed that he had

met with (then Bush U.S. Secretary of State) Jim Baker and I cut a deal with him. I got, besides the $3 billion, you know they’re looking for the Jewish votes, and I’ll tell him whatever he wants to hear … Besides the $10 billion in loan guarantees which was a fabulous thing, $3 billion in foreign, in military aid, and I got almost a billion dollars in other goodies that people don’t even know about.[33]

Steiner also claimed to be “negotiating” with the incoming Clinton administration over who Clinton would appoint as Secretary of State and Secretary of the National Security Agency. Steiner stated that AIPAC had “a dozen people in [the Clinton] campaign, in the headquarters… in Little Rock, and they’re all going to get big jobs.”[33]

NY real estate developer Haim Katz told The Washington Times that he taped the conversation because “as someone Jewish, I am concerned when a small group has a disproportionate power. I think that hurts everyone, including Jews. If David Steiner wants to talk about the incredible, disproportionate clout AIPAC has, the public should know about it.”[34]
[edit] Espionage allegations
Main article: Lawrence Franklin espionage scandal

In April 2005, AIPAC policy director Steven Rosen and AIPAC senior Iran analyst Keith Weissman were fired by AIPAC amid an FBI investigation into whether they passed classified U.S. information received from Franklin on to the government of Israel. They were later indicted for illegally conspiring to gather and disclose classified national security information to Israel.[35][36] AIPAC agreed to pay the legal fees for Weissman’s defense through appeal if necessary,[37] but charges were subsequently dropped.[38]

In May 2005, the Justice Department announced that Lawrence Anthony Franklin, a U.S. Air Force Reserves colonel working as a Department of Defense analyst at the Pentagon in the office of Douglas Feith, had been arrested and charged by the FBI with providing classified national defense information to Israel. The six-count criminal complaint identified AIPAC by name and described a luncheon meeting in which, allegedly, Franklin disclosed top-secret information to two AIPAC officials.[39][40]

Franklin pleaded guilty to passing government secrets to Rosen and Weissman and revealed for the first time that he also gave classified information directly to an Israeli government official in Washington. On January 20, 2006, he was sentenced to 151 months (almost 13 years) in prison and fined $10,000. As part of the plea agreement, Franklin agreed to cooperate in the larger federal investigation.[41][42] All charges against the former AIPAC employees were dropped in 2009.
[edit] Supporters

* AIPAC has a wide base of supporters both in and outside of Congress. Support among congressional members includes a majority of members of both the Democratic and Republican Parties. According to American Prospect magazine, “AIPAC’s 2002 annual conference included 50 senators, 190 representatives, and more than a dozen senior administration officials.”[39]

* Many political leaders have addressed AIPAC conferences, including Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, Vice Presidents Dick Cheney and Joe Biden, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Other speakers have included prominent Senators such as John Kerry, Joe Lieberman, John McCain, as well as and current and former members of the leadership of both parties in Congress, and current and former Prime Ministers of Israel.[citation needed]

* Historian and current Israeli ambassador to America, Michael Oren argued in his 2007 bestseller, “Power, Faith, and Fantasy”, that strong American support for Israel derives from Puritan-Republican roots of the United States itself.[citation needed]

* Sen. John McCain said in his speech to the 2008 AIPAC Policy Conference “[T]here are ties between America and Israel that critics of our alliance have never understood, /../ that’s because they do not fully understand the love of liberty and the pursuit of justice.”[6]

* Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL) has argued that America supports Israel because they share fundamental values as “freedom-loving people” who “deserve to have a free and secure state.'”[43] Nancy Pelosi similarly stated that “America and Israel share an unbreakable bond: in peace and war; and in prosperity and in hardship.”[44]

* Rabbi Steven Weil, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union acts as Scholar-In_Resident for 2010 National Summit in South Florida[45]

[edit] Criticism
Protesters at AIPAC conference in Washington, DC, May 2005

AIPAC has been criticized as being misrepresentative of American Jews who support Israel and that AIPAC is solely in favor of right-wing Israeli policy and viewpoints.[46][47]

Among the best-known critical works about AIPAC is The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy, by University of Chicago professor John Mearsheimer and Harvard University Kennedy School of Government professor Stephen Walt. In the working paper and resulting book they accuse AIPAC of being “the most powerful and best known” component of a larger pro-Israel lobby that distorts American foreign policy. They write:[4]

AIPAC’s success is due to its ability to reward legislators and congressional candidates who support its agenda, and to punish those who challenge it. … AIPAC makes sure that its friends get strong financial support from the myriad pro-Israel PACs. Those seen as hostile to Israel, on the other hand, can be sure that AIPAC will direct campaign contributions to their political opponents. … The bottom line is that AIPAC, which is a de facto agent for a foreign government, has a stranglehold on the U.S. Congress. Open debate about U.S. policy towards Israel does not occur there, even though that policy has important consequences for the entire world.

AIPAC has also been the subject of criticism by prominent politicians including Representative Dave Obey of Wisconsin,[48] former Senator Mike Gravel,[49] and former Representative Cynthia McKinney.[50]

Democratic Congressman Jim Moran from Northern Virginia has been a vocal critic of AIPAC, causing national controversy in 2007 and drawing criticism from some Jewish groups after he told California Jewish magazine Tikkun that AIPAC had been “pushing the [Iraq War] from the beginning”, and that “I don’t think they represent the mainstream of American Jewish thinking at all, but because they are so well organized, and their members are extraordinarily powerful – most of them are quite wealthy – they have been able to exert power.”[51][52]

AIPAC American Israel Public Affairs Committee Obama has…

AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee)

Obama has officially become the 44th U.S. president. This Obama phenomenon into conversation and lively discussion in Indonesia. Even be used as material in one of the tv debate in Indonesia about the pros and cons of Obama. It’s the first of his childhood in Indonesia has made Obama became popular in Indonesia. Is it true that Obama will bring change to the Islamic world and developing countries? In a chance at AIPAC Policy Conference June 4, 2008 (pdf version here), many in saying that U.S. policy in general will continue to support Israel. Protecting the existence of the state of Israel and will continue to maintain its security. In addition, Obama has taken inspiration in the story about the land promised to the Jews as a child. There was no denying that the president of the United States policy is always influenced by Zionist Jews.

The Jews in the U.S. which is only two percent of the total American population, has the strength and infiltration is very large in this country. They control most of the mass media and financial resources in the U.S.. They use that power to control the U.S. government and the White House forced the government to comply with all their will. Those American Jews who have great power was incorporated in the Zionist lobby organizations. Through these organizations, the Zionists played an important role in the body menginfiltras U.S. government and influence decision making American officials, particularly in the case of Palestine and the Middle East crisis, including a role also urged Americans to continue to give full support to the Zionist regime.

Among the most famous groups and Zionist influence in America is the American-Israel Public Committee, which summarily called AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee). The group was founded in 1951 and its activities are not so developed so that the decade of 1970. But throughout the last two decades, gradually AIPAC successfully strengthen its position among the various groups of American Zionists. Now, the organization has expanded to become the second largest lobbying organization in America and the largest lobby in between the institutions lobby in America that focuses its activities to a foreign country. Budget AIPAC reaches about 35 million dollars and its headquarters building located next to the U.S. Congress.

AIPAC has been successful to infiltration of the important parts of political decision-making body and the American economy. Zionist institutions is even exempt from tax liabilities and obtain special facilities from the government. AIPAC provides support to extremist views in the body of the Zionist regime and looks more pro views of Ariel Sharon’s Likud Party leader (prime minister before Olmert).

In other words, AIPAC trying to gain support from American politicians to groups of Ariel Sharon. Zionist institutions has even created a political atmosphere in the U.S. that do not allow the existence of any protest against the Zionist regime. The organization also succeeded in creating an unwritten rule that the smallest protest against the Zionist regime is a form of insult to all Jews and accused perpetrators can anti-Jewish or anti-semitism.

American mass media today largely under censorship and surveillance that AIPAC did not exist any articles contrary to the policy of Tel Aviv. It was supported by the fact that most American media networks are owned by Jews. That is why we find that generally, news, reports, and films that they release always side with the Zionist regime. Meanwhile, other mass media who dared to protest the Zionist regime will be adversely affected.

With this kind of AIPAC Zionist organization, do not be surprised if most Americans do not know the true nature of the occupation of the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people or the violation of laws and international regulations are carried out by Tel Aviv. In fact, the American mass media is always trying to display the image that the Palestinians are terrorists.

Very active member of AIPAC’s influence senators and members of Congress. They do a lot of meetings with members of Congress. AIPAC also held meetings with congressional candidates to assess their views, and pledged financial support to candidates for Congress that if they are willing to help launch a support for the Zionists. Every member of Congress who had elected for the first time, will be invited to visit the Palestinian occupied by AIPAC. There, they will receive more extensive explanation about the political views of Tel Aviv.

Moreover, AIPAC also monitor the performance of every member of Congress relating to the Zionist regime and the Middle East as a whole. Every member of Congress who rated 95 percent favorable regime will be considered a friend. Conversely, in the view of AIPAC, a congressman or senator who has a hard stance against the Zionists, will be regarded as opponents. These people may simply not be elected again at the next election because it will dijegal by AIPAC.

Case Cyntia Kitty Mac is the best example in this regard. He is a member of Congress from the state of Georgia who protested the infiltration of the Zionist regime against the internal affairs of America. But in the next round, Kitty Mac can not be stepped back to Congress due jegalan AIPAC. Ways used by AIPAC in this case is to give support to rival the Mac Kitty in the election.

In these circumstances, do not be surprised if members of Congress almost always approve various regulations and resolutions under the influence of AIPAC lobby which all are supportive of Tel Aviv. For example, at a time when many state and public institutions, including the International Court of The Hague, condemned the making of the Zionist separation wall on Palestinian land, even the U.S. Congress supports the move was not legal.

Professor Joan Cool, professor of history University of Michigan in this case says, “In a crisis between the Arabs and Israel, AIPAC and its allies can do the most comprehensive censorship of Congress. None of the members of the Senate or Congress who dared give voice to criticize Israeli policies, including in cases that clearly show that the Zionist regime has violated international law and security council resolutions.

The role of AIPAC in the U.S. presidential election is also very clear. The role was so prominent, to the point that U.S. presidential candidate before elections are forced to make an announcement over and over again that he is a supporter of the Zionist regime. U.S. Election ago also showed that John Kerry and George W. Bush are both expressed full support to the Zionists in order to get more votes. (Swara muslim.com)

Why the U S supports Israel by Yusuf…

Why the U.S. supports Israel

by Yusuf Mansur

August 18, 2006

Amman – The United States has veto many of the UN Security Council resolution that limits the hegemony of Israel, the Jewish state to supply more aid per population than any country in the world, mempersenjatainya with the banned weapons to other countries, and apparently will remain biased towards Israel. Love is not blind to Israel is encouraged by public opinion polls in the U.S., nor based on deep understanding of its citizens, ordinary Americans, about the Middle East. He is the manifestation of the power of the American Committee on Israeli Society, better known as AIPAC, or Israel lobby.

Unbeknownst to the Arabs almost everywhere, ordinary Americans do not know much about the Middle East, about Palestine, Iraq or Lebanon. Before 11 / 9, ordinary Americans do not know much about the region and still not know enough.

Americans elect their representatives in Congress and Senate to represent their voices, and only concerned with domestic politics and policy. In democracies, unlike dictatorship where everyone is a political expert, people hand over political affairs into the hands of politicians and continue their lives. When choosing a president, the economy became the first consideration.

Arab nations generally, who view the U.S. really bias about Israel, not to understand this fact to ignore the goals that they believe is true, ultimately blame the American people. To explain the vicious U.S. policy towards Israel, the Arabs created a conspiracy of America and talking about the American desire to control oil and their territory. Arabs finally take a shortcut approach, called the American people a big demon, an accusation which is unfounded.

What Arabs generally fail to understand is that U.S. public opinion does not mean anything, their goal is really not important, and that every action and lobby them, if not directed to the U.S. political machine, will be able to bring any changes. The American public really do not know, do not want to know, and even if they know, their attitude will be indifferent as in Europe. It is a sad conclusion but true. EU countries, because one of causes is their proximity to the area, know more about the problem and are usually less affected by biased media coverage and views, but most only provide a mere promise. European support is not transformed into support for Arab goals correct as the implementation of UN Resolution 242, the withdrawal of troops from occupied territories, and the cessation of violence against Lebanon. A pro-Arab public opinion in the U.S. at best can only give the same results and sympathy.

What is needed is actually a U.S. government that supports a variety of Arab goals. The answer can be found in a form similar to AIPAC, the power behind the power of Israel. Founded in 1953 as a Committee of the American Zionist Society, with the aim of writing to lobby against the U.S. Congress on issues and legislation that supports the best interests of Israel and the United States, AIPAC, with membership now reaches 100,000 people, meets regularly with members of Congress and carry out various activities in which they can share views with them. He analyzed the voting records of U.S. federal representatives and senators to consider how they voted for the legislation relating to Israel, he never forgot or forgave, and he only supports congressional candidates who support Israel. Between 1978 and 2000, AIPAC has directly contributed nearly U.S. $ 35 million to 1732 congressional candidates. Official assistance from U.S. to Israel since 1948 has exceeded U.S. $ 103 billion.

AIPAC’s power is manifested in obtaining support for Israel in the Congress and White House administration since the 1960s. The candidates for Congress and those still serving a pro-Israel receive campaign funding and positive publicity through affiliations countless AIPAC, channels and media organizations, while the politicians who do not support policies favorable to Israel became the target to be replaced by those who are pro-Israel. AIPAC never forget; to blacklisted someone needs to be done is to vote that do not support for a pro-Israel policy. Support in a variety of campaigns that lasted tight can determine the outcome. Members of Congress know this and they hear and act on those reasons. Society does not care about how their representatives vote in the Middle East issues just because these issues are not important to them and do not affect their daily lives.

Aware of the power of AIPAC and its ability to mobilize the members of Congress, the White House to draw the line if no domestic legislation is important will never be approved. When the difference is tight, every vote in Congress became critical. When a U.S. president has an agenda of issues in the Middle East, he knew that the support of Congress can be obtained through AIPAC. When a president takes a tough stand against Israel, he knew that the domestic agenda will face more obstacles than he can handle in Congress. Even worse, when the re-election comes, he will suffer defeat if it does not support Israel. In short, is a political suicide to oppose AIPAC, especially for the White House a weak government.

Therefore, the Arabs should not be surprised when on July 18, the Senate unanimously supported a non-binding resolution “condemning Hamas and Hezbollah and the countries of their sponsors and supports Israel’s right to self-defense.” According to former Councilor
National Security in the Carter administration, Zbigniew Brzezinski, AIPAC arguably wrote the resolution.

The conclusion is that if the Arabs want a fairer chance of the U.S. government they should have a lobby that is equally effective and powerful in Washington, rather than relying on public opinion. U.S. public opinion is irrelevant – he never meant, and it already happened long ago.

JESUS in the QURAN The Islamic view of…

JESUS in the QURAN

The Islamic view of Jesus lies between two extremes. The Jews , who rejected Jesus as a Prophet of God, called him an impostor. The Christians, on the other hand, considered him to be the son of God and worship him as such. Islam considers Jesus to be one of the great prophets of God and respects him as much as Ibrahim (Abraham), Moses, and Mohammed. (Peace Be Upon Them) This is conformity with the Islamic view of the oneness of God, the oneness of Divine guidance, and the complementary role of the subsequent mission of God’s messengers.

The essence of Islam – willing submission to the will of God – was revealed to Adam, who was passed it on to his children. All following revelations to Noah, Ibrahim, Moses, Jesus, and finally Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Them) were conformity with that message, with some elaboration to define the revelation between man and God, man and man, man and instructions. Thus, any contradictions among revealed religions is viewed by Islam as a man-made element introduced into these religions. The position of Jesus in the three major religions – Judaism, Christianity, and Islam – should not be an exception.

Although the Quran does not present a detailed life-story of Jesus, it highlights the important aspects of his birth, his mission, his ascension to heaven, and passes judgements on the Christian beliefs concerning him. The Quranic account of Jesus starts with the conception of his mother, Mary, whose mother, the wife of Imran, vowed to dedicate her child to the service of God in the temple. When Mary became a woman, the Holy Spirit (the Archangel Gabriel) appeared to her as a man bringing her news of a son. We read the following dialogue in the Quran between Mary and the Angel:

“When the angel said, “Mary, god gives you a good tidings of a Word from Him whose name is messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, -high honoured shall he be in this world and the next, near stationed to God. He shall speak to men in the cradle, and of age, and righteous he shall be, “lord” said Mary “How shall I have a son, seeing no mortal has touched me? “Even so, he said “God creates what He will”.

When he decrees a thing He but say to it, “Be”, and it is. (Al-Imran 3:45-47)

In a chapter (Surah) entitled “Maryam” (Mary), the Quran tells us how Mary gave birth to her son, and how the Jesus accused her when she brought the child home:

“Then she brought the child to her folk, carrying him, and they said, “Mary, you have surely committed a monstrous thing. Sister of Aaron, your father was not a wicked man, nor your mother a woman unchaste. Mary pointed to the child; but they said, ‘Hoe shall we speak to one who still in the cradle, a little child. And he said, ‘Lo, I am God’s servant, God has given me the Book and made me a Prophet Blessed He has made me ,wherever/may be; and hi has enjoined me to prayer, and to give the alms so long as I live, and likewise to cherish my mother; He has not made me arrogant and wicked. Peace be upon me, the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I am raised up a live. “Maryam 19:29-33)

in the same chapter, following the above quotation, God assures Mohammed (PBUH) and through him the whole world, that what is told above is the TRUTH about Jesus (PBUH), although Christians might not accept it. Jesus is NOT the son of God: He was obviously enough, the son of Mary. The verses continue: “That is Jesus, son of Mary, in word of truth, concerning which they are doubting. It is not for God to take a son unto Him. Glory be to Him, He nut says to it, ‘Be, and it is. (Maryam 19:34-35)

After this strong statement about the nature of Jesus, God directed Mohammed (PBUH) to call the Christians to worship the one God: “Surely God is my God, and your God, so surely serve him. This is the straight path”. (Maryam 19:36)

The rejection of the very idea of God having a son is restated later in the same chapter with even stronger words: “And they say, The All-merciful has taken unto Himself a son. You have indeed advanced something hideous. As if the skies are about to burst, the earth to split asunder and its mountain to fall down in the utter ruin for that they have attributed to the All-merciful a son; and behaves not the All-merciful to take a son. None there in the heavens and earth but comes to the All-merciful as a servant” (Maryam 19:88-93)

The Quran recognizes the fact that Jesus had no human father, but this does not make him the son of God, or God himself. By this criterion, Adam would have been more entitled more entitled to be the son of God, because he had neither a father nor a mother, so the Quran draws attention to the miraculous creation of both in the following verses; ” truly the likeness of Jesus, in God’s sight is as Adam’s likeness; He created him of dust, then He said upon him, ‘Be’ and hi was. (Al-Imran 3:59)

The Quran rejects the concept of Trinity God the Father, God the son, God the Holy Spirit – as strongly as it rejects the concept of Jesus as the son of God. This is because GOD IS ONE. Three cannot be one. The Quran addresses Christians in the following verses from the Surrah entitled “An-Nisaa” (The Women)

People of the Book, do not go beyond the bounds in your religion, and say nought as to God but the Truth. The messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was only the messenger of God, and his word (Fulfilment of his word (Fulfilment of His command, through the word “Be”, for the creation of Jesus) that he committed to Mary, and a spirit originating from Him (was given life by God). So believe in God and His Messengers, and say not ‘Three’. Refrain, better is for you. God is only one God. Glory be to him-that He should have a son! To Him belongs all that is in the Heavens and in the Earth; God suffices for a guardian.

The Messiah will not disdain to be a servant of God, neither the Angels who are close to Him. Whosoever disdains to serve Him and walks proud, He will assuredly muster them to Him, all of them.

As for the believers, who do deeds of righteousness, we will pay them their rewards in full, and He will give them more, of His bounty; as for them who disdain and walks proud, then He will punish with a severe punishment, and they shall not find for them, apart from God, a friend or helper.” (An-Nissa 4:171-173)

The denial of Jesus’s divinity (and. For the matter, of Mary’s divinity) is presented in the Quran in the form of a dialogue, at the Day of Judgement, between the Almighty Jesus. All the Messengers and their nations will gather before God and He will ask the Messengers how they were received by their people and what they said to them. Among those who will be questioned is Jesus:

“And when God said, ‘O Jesus, son of Mary, did you say unto men, “Take me and my mother as gods, apart from God”? He said, ‘To you be glory! It is not mine to say what I have no right to. If I indeed said it, you would have known it, knowing what is within my heart, though I do not know your knowledge; you know the things unseen. I only said to them what you did commands me: “Serve God, my God and your God.” (Al-Maida 5-116)

Given that the Quran denies the Trinity and the son ship of Jesus, what, according to the Quran, was the real mission of Jesus? The answer is that Jesus was a link in a long chain of Prophets and Messengers sent by God to various nations and societies whenever they needed guidance or deviated from his teachings of Moses and other Messengers. As he was miraculously supported by numerous miracles to prove that he was a Messengers from God. However, the majority of the Jews rejected his ministry.

In another verse of the Quran, Jesus confirmed the validity of the Torah which was revealed to Moses, and also conveyed he glad tidings of a final Messenger who follow him: “And when Jesus son of Mary said, ‘Children of Israel, I am indeed the Messenger to you, confirming the Torah that is before me, and giving good tiding of a Messenger who shall be the praised one.”(As-Saff 61:6)

Note that “praised one” is a translation of “Ahmad” – The Prophet Mohammed’s name. Careful study of the New Testament shows that Jesus refers to the same Prophet in John 14:16-17: “And I will give you another Counsellor (ThProphet Mohammed). To be with you for ever, even the Spirit of Truth.”

The usual explanation of this Prophecy is that the counsellor referred to is the Holy Spirit, but this explanation is excluded by a previous verse in John: “Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Counsellor will not come to you.”

The characteristics of this counsellor, as can be derived from the prophecy, are that he will stay forever with the believers, he will glorify Jesus; and he will speak that he hears form God. All four characteristics apply to the Prophet Mohammed. He came six centuries after Jesus. He came six centuries after Jesus. He came with a universal and everlasting message, fulfilling the prophecy that the counsellor will stay forever with the faithful. He glorified Jesus as a great Prophet. The Quran attributes to Jesus miracles not mentioned in the Bible’s Old and New Testaments, as well as specific verses in the Quran show how the Prophet Mohammad is rejected by Jews and Christians out of prejudice and misunderstanding, rather that carefully study the Bible.

It is a sad fact of history that not many are following the “straight path” to which people were called by Jesus. He was only followed by a few disciples inspired by God to support him. The non-believers plotted – as they would against Mohammed, six centuries later – to kill Jesus. But God had better plan for him and his followers, as the Quran tells us:

“And when Jesus perceived their unbelief, he said ‘Who will be my helpers in the cause of God? The apostles said, ‘we are Gods helpers. We believe in God; so bear witness of our submission God, we believe in that you have sent down, and we follow the Messenger. Inscribe us therefore with those who bear witness. ‘And they devised, and God devised, and God devised, and God is the best of divisors. When God said, ‘Jesus, I will take you to Me and will raise you to Me, and I will purify you (of the falsehoods) of those who do not believe. I will make your followers above the unbelievers till the Resurrection Day.”(Al-Imran 3:52-55)

As the above verses indicate, Jesus was taken and raised to heaven. He was not crucified. It was certainly the plan of the enemies of Jesus to put him to death on the cross, but God saved him and someone else was crucified:

“And for their unbelief, and their uttering against Mary a grave false charge, and for their saying, ‘We killed the messiah, Jesus son of Mary, the Messiah of God”…yet they did not slay him, neither crucified him, only a likeness of that was shown to them. Those who are at variance concerning him are surely in doubt the following of conjecture; and they did not kill him of certainty…no indeed; God raised him up to Him; God is Almighty, Allwise. There is not one of the people of the book but will assuredly believe him before his death, and on the Resurrection Day he will be a witness against them.” (An-Nissa 4:156-159)

The Quran does not explain who was the person crucified instead of Jesus, nor elaborate on the Second Coming of Jesus. However, explanators of the Quran have always interpreted the last verse of the above quotation to mean that Jesus will believe in him before he dies. This understanding is supported by authentic sayings (Hadith) of the Prophet Mohammed may the peace and blessings of Allah him and upon all His Messengers.
